AC Milan ended Tottenham Hotspur's Champions League campaign on a disappointing note as they failed to overcome their first-leg deficit in the last 16. Spurs' passive start allowed Milan to settle into the game, and defender Cristian Romero received a red card for a wild challenge on Theo Hernandez. Although Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Kane had attempts on goal, Spurs could not create sustained pressure on the Italian defence. Despite a late effort from Kane, brilliantly saved by Milan keeper Mike Maignan, Spurs went out without much of a fight, leaving their season to rely on the Premier League's top-four battle.
